The west side of the island is one of the best spots with long sandy beaches like Flic en Flac fringed with casuarina trees. Not far from that region, is found the Casela .This bird sanctuary is built on 20 acres and features 140 different species from all over the world.

Casela Leisure Park
Open daily, Casela Bird Park is set in the district of the Rivière Noire, stretches over 20 acres of land and contains more than 140 varieties, amounting to 2500 birds

Tamarind Falls
The Tamarind Falls are a little difficult to reach, but it’s worth the effort for a beautiful, deep, cool bathe at the bottom of the series of seven falls. You can see them from the Vacoas side, if you follow the sign from Henrietta. A tarred, bumpy road through cane fields leads to the Magenta and Tamarind Falls turn-off.

Tamarin
This is the surfing centre of Mauritius, although you can go for weeks without seeing a surfer. The character of the place is more laid-back than Fliic en Flac and rougher around the edges. It has a good beach and is well situated for most of the other sights. Salt evaporation ponds encircle the village. Tamarin Bay Beach is a small public beach with good views across the river estuary to Montage du Rempart.

Black River Gorges
The national park was founded in 1994 and is and excellent site to appreciate the magnificent gorges of famous Black River. The park also boasts stunning scenery and is home to the largest forest left on the island and features predominately indigenous species of plants, vegetation and local wildlife. This park serves as a wonderful contrast to show that Mauritius is more than just beautiful beaches and people.

Chamarel
From the small sleepy Mauritian town of Case Noyale leads a narrow windy road to the coloured layers land stretching in contrasting layers of colour, and the patches of blue, green, red and yellow earth are believed to be the result of weathering. There is also the Charamel Falls nearby.
