Airport transfers, private transfers and island tours ·
Last updated 27 August 2026
These Terms and Conditions govern every airport transfer, private transfer and island tour provided by Taxis Mauritius. Please read them before you book. They set out what we will do for you, what we ask of you, what you pay and when, and what happens if something goes wrong.
1Who we are
1.1Taxis Mauritius is the trading name of Taxis (Mauritius) Limited, a company incorporated in the Republic of Mauritius under Business Registration Number C10060869, with its address at Royal Road, Amaury, 31401, Republic of Mauritius. In these Terms, "we", "us" and "our" mean Taxis (Mauritius) Limited.
1.2We operate in affiliation with TML Holidays Tour Ltd, Business Registration Number C19166176, under Operator Licence No. 16524. That licence is what permits the commercial carriage of fare paying passengers in the Republic of Mauritius, and it may be quoted or checked at any time.
1.3In these Terms, "you" means the person who makes the booking and each passenger travelling under it. "Transfer" means a private one way journey between two stated points. "Tour" means a private chartered day excursion with a vehicle and driver at your disposal.
2These Terms
2.1These Terms apply to every transfer and every tour we provide, and to every booking however it is made, whether through taxismauritius.com, through book.taxismauritius.com, by WhatsApp, by email or by telephone.
2.2By making a booking you accept these Terms on behalf of every passenger in your party. If you are booking for other people, you are responsible for bringing these Terms to their attention.
2.3Nothing in these Terms affects any right you have under the laws of the Republic of Mauritius that cannot be excluded or limited by agreement.
2.4We may amend these Terms from time to time. The version that applies to your booking is the version published on taxismauritius.com on the date your booking was made.
3Making a booking
3.1A transfer booked through the booking form on taxismauritius.com is confirmed at the moment you submit the form. No further acceptance by us is required and no further step is needed on your part.
3.2Where you request a transfer by WhatsApp, by email or by telephone rather than through the booking form, the booking is confirmed when we reply in writing confirming the date, the time, the pickup point, the destination, the vehicle class and the price.
3.3You are responsible for the accuracy and completeness of the information you give us. In particular we need your flight number, your arrival or departure date and time, the full pickup address including the name of the hotel, resort or villa and the room number where applicable, the number of passengers, the number and size of bags, and a contact number on which you can be reached while you are in Mauritius.
3.4We are not responsible for a failed pickup that is caused by information given to us that was incorrect, incomplete or later changed without notice to us.
3.5We ask you to book with as much notice as you can. Short notice bookings are accepted subject to vehicle and driver availability at the time of the request.
4Prices and what is included
4.1Fares are quoted per vehicle and not per person. The price you are given covers the whole vehicle for the journey booked, whether one passenger travels or the vehicle travels full.
4.2Fares are quoted in euro (EUR) and are for a one way journey. A return journey is booked separately and charged as a separate one way fare.
4.3Where a price is displayed in Mauritian rupees on our website, that figure is indicative only and is converted at 55 rupees to the euro.
4.4Transfer fares are structured in three zones by destination: Zone 1, the Mahebourg region; Zone 2, most of the island; and Zone 3, the Le Morne region. Within each zone a separate fare applies to each vehicle class: sedan, premium sedan, minivan and minibus. The fare that applies to your booking is the fare displayed for your destination and vehicle class at the time you book.
4.5The fare includes tracking of your inbound flight, meeting you in the arrivals hall at Gate 7 with a name board, assistance with your luggage, all road tolls and parking charges arising on the journey, and child seats where these have been requested at the time of booking.
4.6The fare confirmed to you at the time of booking is fixed. We do not add a surcharge to a confirmed fare after booking.
4.7A transfer is a direct journey between the two points booked. If you would like to make a brief stop on the way, please ask your driver; a short stop may be accommodated at the driver's discretion where it does not materially extend the journey. If you would like to stop for a longer period, or to visit places along the route, a tour is the appropriate booking and is priced under clause 11.
5Payment
5.1You book now and pay later. No payment is taken at the time of booking and we do not collect card details.
5.2Payment is made in cash directly to your driver on the day of travel.
5.3We accept cash in Mauritian rupees (MUR) and in euro (EUR). Where a fare quoted in euro is paid in Mauritian rupees, it is converted at our published rate of 55 rupees to the euro.
5.4We also accept cash in pounds sterling (GBP), United States dollars (USD) and South African rand (ZAR), where this has been agreed with us in advance of the day of travel. If you intend to pay in one of these currencies, please tell us at the time of booking so that the amount payable can be confirmed to you in writing before you travel.
5.5Please carry an amount close to the fare due. Drivers carry limited change, particularly in currencies other than the Mauritian rupee.
6Waiting time
6.1For airport pickups we allow 45 minutes of free waiting time, counted from the actual landing time of your aircraft and not from the scheduled landing time shown on your ticket.
6.2We track your inbound flight. If your flight is delayed, your driver's arrival is moved to the new landing time and there is no additional cost to you.
6.3If you are held inside the terminal beyond the 45 minutes because of immigration, customs, biosecurity or any other border formality, your driver will continue to wait and no waiting charge applies.
6.4For hotel, villa and all other pickups away from the airport we allow 15 minutes of free waiting time from the agreed pickup time.
6.5If you have not met your driver within 15 minutes of the agreed pickup time at a pickup away from the airport, and the driver has made reasonable attempts to reach you on the contact number you gave us, both by telephone and by WhatsApp, the driver may leave and the transfer may be treated as a no show. As no payment is taken at the time of booking, no fee arises. We cannot guarantee that another vehicle will be available at short notice afterwards.
6.6Please keep your Mauritian contact number switched on and reachable on the day of travel.
7Changing or cancelling your booking
7.1You may cancel a transfer at any time before the scheduled pickup, at no cost. There is no cancellation fee, and as no payment is taken at the time of booking there is nothing to refund.
7.2We ask, as a courtesy, that you tell us as soon as you know that you no longer need the transfer. A driver may already be on the road to meet you.
7.4Changes to the date, time, flight number, pickup point, destination, party size or vehicle class are accepted subject to availability. Where a change moves your destination into a different fare zone, or requires a larger vehicle, the fare applicable to the amended booking applies and will be confirmed to you before the change takes effect.
7.5Cancellation of tours is governed by clause 11 and not by this clause.
8Changes or cancellation by us
8.1We may substitute the vehicle allocated to your booking with another vehicle of equal or greater passenger and luggage capacity, at no additional cost to you.
8.2We may allocate or substitute a different driver at any time, including a driver operating on our behalf.
8.3In the rare event that we are unable to perform a confirmed booking, we will tell you as soon as we reasonably can and will use reasonable efforts to arrange an alternative vehicle. If no alternative can be provided, the booking is cancelled and you owe us nothing.
8.4Our liability where we change or cancel a booking is limited as set out in clause 16.
9Luggage
9.1Vehicle capacities are as follows: sedan, up to 3 passengers and 3 bags; premium sedan, up to 3 passengers and 4 bags; minivan, up to 7 passengers and 7 bags; minibus, up to 11 passengers and 11 bags.
9.2Please tell us the number and the type of bags at the time of booking so that the correct vehicle class is allocated to you.
9.3Oversized or unusual items, including surfboards, golf bags, bicycles, diving equipment, musical instruments, pushchairs and wheelchairs, must be declared at the time of booking. We will confirm whether the item can be carried and in which vehicle class. An item that was not declared may not fit the vehicle allocated to you.
9.4Where the party or the luggage presented on the day exceeds the capacity of the vehicle booked, a larger vehicle is required. Where one can be provided, the fare for that vehicle class applies.
9.5Luggage is carried at the owner's risk. Please count your bags into and out of the vehicle.
10Children and child seats
10.1Child seats are provided at no additional charge.
10.2You must tell us the age of each child at the time of booking so that the appropriate seat is fitted. Seats are subject to availability and cannot be guaranteed where the ages of children were not given in advance.
10.3Children remain the responsibility of the accompanying adult at all times, including during boarding, during the journey and on arrival.
11Tours and excursions
11.1A tour is a private chartered excursion with your own vehicle and driver. The standard tour day is 8 hours.
11.2Transport is priced per vehicle: sedan or SUV, up to 4 passengers, EUR 75; minivan, up to 7 passengers, EUR 125; minibus, up to 14 passengers, EUR 150.
11.3Where a tour day extends beyond 8 hours, each additional hour is charged at 500 Mauritian rupees, paid directly to the driver.
11.4Where a tour includes an activity operated by a third party, such as a catamaran cruise, a speedboat trip, a dolphin excursion or a site with an entrance fee, activity tickets are priced per person and are shown separately from the transport price. Infants under 3 years of age travel free on activities.
11.5For tours booked through book.taxismauritius.com, nothing is charged at the time of booking. You pay for each tour in cash on the day of that tour. Your driver confirms your booking on WhatsApp, ordinarily within 2 hours of the booking being placed.
11.6You may cancel a tour free of charge up to 24 hours before the start of that tour. A tour cannot be cancelled online within 24 hours of its start time. If you need to cancel inside that period, please call +230 5794 5443.
11.7Where a tour includes a third party activity, that activity is operated by the third party operator, under its own operating procedures and safety rules.
11.8Sea based excursions are additionally subject to clause 12.
12Weather and sea conditions
12.1Boat based excursions, including catamaran cruises, speedboat trips and dolphin excursions, may be cancelled, shortened or re routed by the boat operator or by the maritime authorities for reasons of safety or weather.
12.2Where a boat based excursion is cancelled for reasons of safety, we will offer you an alternative date where the remainder of your stay allows it. If no alternative date is possible, you pay nothing for that excursion.
12.3Safety decisions taken by a boat operator or by the maritime authorities are final and are outside our control.
13Conduct in the vehicle
13.1Smoking, including the use of electronic cigarettes, is not permitted in any of our vehicles.
13.2The consumption of alcohol in the vehicle is not permitted. Illegal substances are not permitted in the vehicle under any circumstances.
13.3Seat belts must be worn by every passenger for whom a belt is fitted.
13.4A driver may decline to carry a passenger, or may end a journey, where a passenger behaves in a manner that is abusive, threatening or unsafe, or is unfit to travel. Where a journey is ended for this reason the fare remains payable in full and we have no further obligation in respect of that booking.
13.5You are responsible for the reasonable cost of cleaning or repairing a vehicle where a passenger in your party soils or damages it.
14Lost property
14.1Items found in our vehicles are held for 30 days from the date of the journey. Items that remain unclaimed after 30 days may be disposed of.
14.2To report a lost item, email bookings@taxismauritius.com or message +230 5794 5443, giving your booking reference, the date of the journey and a description of the item.
14.3Where a found item is to be returned to you, the cost of courier or delivery is payable by you.
14.4We take reasonable care of items found in our vehicles but do not accept liability for property left behind.
15Insurance
15.1Our vehicles are insured for the carriage of fare paying passengers as required by law in the Republic of Mauritius.
15.2That insurance does not cover your personal belongings, medical expenses, trip cancellation, missed flights or any other travel risk. We strongly recommend that you hold comprehensive travel insurance for the duration of your stay.
16Our liability
16.1Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited under the laws of the Republic of Mauritius.
16.2Subject to clause 16.1, our total liability arising out of or in connection with a booking, whether in contract, in tort or otherwise, is limited to the value of that booking.
16.3We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, including missed flights, missed connections, missed cruise departures, lost accommodation, lost earnings or loss of enjoyment.
16.4We are not liable for any delay in performing, or failure to perform, any of our obligations where that delay or failure is caused by an event outside our reasonable control. Such events include cyclone or severe weather, flooding, landslide, road closure, an accident or congestion on the road network, industrial action, civil disruption, an act or decision of a public authority, the failure or withdrawal of a third party activity operator, and the closure or disruption of Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport.
16.5We are not liable for a failed pickup where the information given to us was incorrect or incomplete, where the contact number given to us was unreachable, or where you did not meet your driver within the free waiting period set out in clause 6.
16.6Where a tour includes an activity operated by a third party, that operator is responsible for the conduct and the safety of that activity.
16.7You must give us the opportunity to put a problem right. Where a difficulty arises during a journey or a tour, please contact us on +230 5794 5443 at the time, so that it can be addressed while it can still be remedied.
17Complaints
17.1If something goes wrong, please tell us. Email bookings@taxismauritius.com with your booking reference and a description of what happened.
17.2We acknowledge every complaint within 7 days of receiving it, and we aim to give a final response within 30 days.
17.3Please raise any issue as early as you can, and ideally while you are still in Mauritius, so that we have a real opportunity to put it right.
18Your personal information
18.1We collect and process personal data in accordance with the Data Protection Act 2017 of the Republic of Mauritius.
18.2We collect only what is needed to deliver your transfer or tour: your name, your contact number, your email address, your flight details, your pickup and destination addresses, the size of your party, and any special requirement you tell us about.
18.3We share your name, your contact number and your journey details with the driver allocated to your booking, and, where your booking includes a third party activity, with that activity operator, in each case only so far as is necessary to deliver the service you have booked.
18.4We do not sell your personal data.
18.5Full details of how we handle personal data are set out in our Privacy Policy, published on taxismauritius.com.
19Governing law and jurisdiction
19.1These Terms, and any booking made under them, are governed by the laws of the Republic of Mauritius.
19.2The courts of the Republic of Mauritius have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising out of or in connection with these Terms or any booking made under them.
