This policy explains what personal information Taxis Mauritius collects when you book a transfer or a tour with us, why we collect it, and what rights you have over it. We have tried to write it in plain language rather than legal jargon.
Taxis Mauritius is a licensed passenger transport and tour service operating in Mauritius, trading as Taxis (Mauritius) Limited, Business Registration Number C10060869, with a registered address at Royal Road Amaury, 31401, Mauritius.
For the purposes of the Mauritius Data Protection Act 2017 and, where it applies, the EU and UK General Data Protection Regulation, we are the data controller for the information described below.
You can reach us about anything in this policy at bookings@taxismauritius.com.
When you book with us, we collect only what we need to carry out the journey:
If you contact us by WhatsApp, email or the contact form, we also keep the content of that conversation so we have a record of what was agreed.
We do not ask for, and you should never send us, your passport number, identity card number, or full payment card details by message or email.
Like most websites, ours records limited technical information when you visit: IP address, browser type, device type, pages viewed, and how you arrived at the site. This is used to understand how the site is used and to keep it working, not to identify you personally.
| What we do | Why we are allowed to |
|---|---|
| Arrange and carry out your transfer or tour | Performance of a contract with you |
| Contact you about your booking, including changes on the day | Performance of a contract with you |
| Track your flight so the driver arrives at the right time | Performance of a contract with you |
| Keep records of bookings and payments | Legal obligation, and our legitimate interest in keeping accurate business records |
| Deal with complaints, disputes or insurance claims | Our legitimate interest in defending our position |
| Understand how our website is used | Consent, through the cookie banner |
| Send you occasional offers, if you have asked for them | Consent, which you can withdraw at any time |
We do not sell your personal information to anyone, and we do not use it for automated decision making or profiling.
Many of our bookings are made and confirmed over WhatsApp. When you message us there, your message is delivered through WhatsApp’s own systems and is subject to their privacy policy as well as ours. We keep the conversation as a record of your booking.
If you would prefer not to use WhatsApp, you can book entirely by email at bookings@taxismauritius.com.
[EDIT THIS SECTION TO MATCH HOW YOU ACTUALLY TAKE PAYMENT.]
Most of our transfers are paid directly to the driver on arrival, in cash. In that case we never see or store any card details at all.
Where a booking is paid online, payment is processed by our payment provider, [PAYMENT PROVIDER NAME]. Your card details are entered on their systems, not ours. We receive only a confirmation that payment succeeded, along with the last four digits of the card and the amount. We never store full card numbers.
Our website uses cookies. Some are strictly necessary to make the site and the booking form work. Others help us understand which pages are useful.
You can refuse non-essential cookies through the banner when you first visit, and you can clear or block cookies at any time in your browser settings. Blocking essential cookies may stop the booking form working.
We share the minimum necessary, and only with:
We do not pass your details to hotels, shops, advertisers or any third party for marketing purposes.
Some of the services we use, such as email, website hosting and analytics, store data on servers outside Mauritius, including in the European Union and the United States. Where that happens, we rely on the safeguards those providers have in place, such as standard contractual clauses, to keep your information protected to the same standard.
Under the Mauritius Data Protection Act 2017, and under GDPR if you are in the European Union or the United Kingdom, you have the right to:
To exercise any of these, email bookings@taxismauritius.com. We will respond within one month. There is no charge.
Our website runs over an encrypted connection. Access to booking records is limited to the people who need it to do their job. Drivers receive only the details required for your specific journey, and nothing more.
No system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security, but if a breach occurs that puts your rights at risk we will notify you and the Data Protection Office as required by law.
Our service is booked by adults. We do not knowingly collect information directly from children. Where a booking includes children, we collect only their ages, and only so we can fit the correct child seat.
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of this page. Significant changes will be highlighted on the page for a reasonable period.
